Florian Wirtz of Germany poses ahead of the UEFA Nations League 2025 Finals(Image: 2025 UEFA)
Micah Richards insists Florian Wirtz will be worth ‘every single penny’ as Liverpool continue to negotiate a club-record deal for the Germany international.
The Reds are yet to agree a fee with Bayer Leverkusen and have seen two bids rejected, with the latest totalling £109m.
But with the 22-year-old, who is currently away on international duty, keen on the move to Anfield, all parties remain confident that a deal will be done.
Wirtz has shone for Leverkusen in recent years, and was a star man for the German outfit as they won their first ever Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso last season.

And Richards has seen enough to insist Wirtz is worth the money, even though he does have one doubt about the German ahead of his anticipated move to the Premier League.
“Yeah, he’s worth it,” the former Manchester City star told Alan Shearer when speaking on The Rest is Football podcast.
Tactically he’s got it, technically he’s got it.

“The way he manipulates the ball… he was a superstar from a young age so he can deal with pressure.
“It’s just where does he fit into the system.
Because he can do both.
“And honestly Al, for £120million, he’s worth every single penny.”
Shearer agreed with Richards about Wirtz needing to adjust to the physical side of English football, but agreed he expected the German to be a success at Liverpool.
“I’ve seen him, I’ve seen him quite a bit this season with Champions League,” he said.
“And he says he’s a really, not frustrating player, but one minute he looks amazing and then the next minute he doesn’t really do the basics very well.
“But he said if he gets it right, and he improves, his ceiling could be very, very high.
“For Liverpool, it depends [on] how they want to play, do they want a striker who is going to stretch, or do they want a striker who is going to come to feet and interlink play, and that’s the only thing.
“Ekitike is not bad on the ball, but he’s more of a stretch striker really than a (Roberto) Firmino, coming in deep and linking play.
“Where does Wirtz fit into that, where does Szoboszlai fit into that, where does (Luis) Diaz potentially fit into that.
If they get Wirtz, I think they may be looking more for a player who can drop a bit.

“But talent-wise, he’s definitely got enough to add to this Liverpool side.”
